On March 20, 2024 the American Legion Synepuxent Post # 166 in Ocean City, Maryland held their annual First Responders Awards Program. During the program, first responders throughout Worcester County were recognized for outstanding service to the community. Fire Marshal Matthew Owens joined Deputy Fire Marshal First Class Christopher Vieira who was recognized by Post # 166 for his work in a recent lengthy and complex arson investigation in West Ocean City where an individual was identified, prosecuted and eventually convicted of the crime.

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a residential structure fire in Stockton, Maryland this morning.

At 10:17 AM the Stockton Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a residence on Ticktown Road for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews observed fire conditions at the rear of a two-story single-family dwelling. Firefighters worked to bring the fire under control quickly. Crews then remained on location for approximately two hours conducting overhaul operations, ensuring the fire had been completely extinguished.

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a residential structure fire in Berlin this morning.

At 11:07 AM the Berlin Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a structure fire at 10723 Sinepuxent Road in Berlin.

Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from all sides of a single-story home. Firefighters worked to quickly bring the fire under control and search for any occupants still inside. Crews then remained on scene for approximately 2 hours performing overhaul operations, ensuring the fire was completely extinguished.

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a commercial structure fire in Berlin on Sunday November 19, 2023.

At 10:17 AM the Berlin Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a structure fire at the Faith Baptist Church. Upon arrival crews observed smoke conditions coming from a boiler. Crews were able to isolate the utilities serving the boiler and brought the situation under control.

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a residential structure fire in Snow Hill on Saturday afternoon.

At 1:59 PM the Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a structure fire at 3602 Figgs Landing Road in Snow Hill.

Upon arrival, crews observed significant smoke and fire conditions throughout the single-story home. Firefighters worked to quickly bring the fire under control. Crews then remained on scene for approximately 3 hours performing overhaul operations.

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a commercial structure fire in Berlin late this morning.

At 11:21 AM the Berlin Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a structure fire at the Friendship Exxon located at 10709 Grays Corner Road in Berlin.

The Worcester County Special Hazards Response Team responded to an incident in Ocean Pines this afternoon.

At 3:03 PM the Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the Ocean Pines Yacht Club located at 1 Mumfords Landing Road for a reported chemical spill in the kitchen.

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated an explosion that resulted in a fatality on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

At 8:48 AM Saturday, the Stockton Volunteer Fire Company and the Pocomoke City EMS departments were dispatched to the 400 block of Silva Road in Stockton, Maryland for a reported camper trailer explosion with burn injury. Firefighters and Paramedics arrived and observed a camper trailer at the residence that had experienced an over pressurization along with an 80-year-old male victim with burn injuries on over 90 percent of his body.

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a residential structure fire at 413 West Market Street in Snow Hill on Wednesday August 2, 2023.

At 7:20 PM the Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a reported house fire. Upon arrival crews observed a two-story single-family home with fire showing on several sides. Firefighters were able to locate and extinguish the fire quickly and ensure all occupants of the home had evacuated.
