Worcester County Commissioners appoint Betsy Jackson to serve at zoning administrator within Development Review and Permitting
Worcester County, MD — The Worcester County Commissioners appointed Betsy Jackson to serve at the zoning administrator within Development Review and Permitting (DRP). Jackson brings 20 years of planning and zoning expertise to her new position, including eight years in the government sector.
“Betsy brings an excellent combination of technical expertise, management experience, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving,” DRP Director Jennifer Keener said. “Her broad understanding of planning, zoning, and development review will help us provide consistent guidance and responsive service to property owners, applicants, and the broader community.”
Prior to joining Worcester County, Jackson served as the city planner for the City of Salisbury, where she led a team of associate planners and oversaw development plan reviews, rezoning and text-amendment requests, staff reports, and coordination with the Planning Commission and Historic District Commission. Prior to her work with the City of Salisbury, she was a remote town planner for a private development firm based out of New South Wales, Australia.
“It’s a privilege to serve Worcester County in this capacity, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of the DRP team,” Jackson said.
Jackson earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from Wilmington University, and she is an American Planning Association (AICP) certified planner.
As zoning administrator, Jackson oversees the County’s zoning activities, including planning, licensing, permitting, code enforcement, and the interpretation and application of land-use regulations. She also chairs the Technical Review Committee and serves as an advisor to the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals
