Snow Hill, Maryland (August 10, 2023) – The Worcester County Commissioners named Robert Keenan as the new recycling manager in the Solid Waste Division of Public Works.

“Bob is a great guy who is always willing to help and goes above and beyond when taking on a project,” Public Works Director Dallas Baker said. “His energy and enthusiasm make him a great fit to lead the recycling team in Worcester County.”

            Snow Hill, Maryland (August 7, 2023) – Worcester County Emergency Services (WCES) officials urge area residents to prepare for damaging winds tonight beginning as early as 6 p.m.

National Weather Service (NWS) forecasters are predicting severe weather conditions in Worcester County, to include wind gusts of 60-80 mph, which may cause significant tree and power line damage, up to one-half inch of rain, which could cause localized flooding in poor drainage areas, and a small chance of tornadoes.

Shell Mill Boat Landing will be closed to the public Wed., Aug. 9, to Fri., Aug. 11, for general maintenance. The facility will reopen to the public for the weekend. For info on other County boat ramps, visit https://worcesterrecandparks.org/boat-ramps.

Traveler advisory: The U.S. Rt. 13 Rest Area in Pocomoke (MD/VA Line) will be closed until Wednesday, August 9, while crews repair a broken water pipe.

Roads will be closed to traffic, while roads crews replace a failed crossroad pipe. The work should be completed that same day. For more information, call 410-632-2244.

Snow Hill, Maryland (August 2, 2023) – There’s still time to nominate county residents, organizations, and businesses whose volunteer contributions strengthen our communities for the 2023 Volunteer Spirit of Worcester County awards. The nomination deadline is August 25 at 4:30 p.m.

Volunteer Spirit nominations will be accepted for each of the following eight categories, with one winner to be chosen from each: individual, group/team, emerging leader, faith-based, nonprofit volunteer program, local business, veteran, and lifetime achievement.
