Snow Hill, Maryland – Worcester County Government’s Isle of Wight Offices, at the intersection of MD Rt. 90 and St. Martins Neck Road, will reopen Monday, April 20, 2026. To mark the occasion, the Worcester County Commissioners and Health Department officials will host a ribbon cutting ceremony that morning at 10 a.m.

The Treasurer’s Office and Health Department will resume satellite services at this location Monday through Friday. Operating hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Treasurer’s Office; and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the Health Department.

Starting April 1, Berlin Homeowner Convenience Center Will No Longer Accept Yard Waste

Beginning April 1, 2026, the Berlin Homeowner Convenience Center (HOCC) will no longer accept yard waste.

Following a series of February snowstorms, the Berlin HOCC temporarily accepted yard waste to assist residents with cleanup efforts.

After April 1, yard waste will only be accepted at the following Solid Waste locations:

Traffic Alert: Holly Grove Road Closure Wednesday, March 25

Holly Grove Road from Samuel Bowen Boulevard to Sinepuxent Road will be closed this Wednesday, March 25, while County Roads Division crews work to clear trees and debris from the shoulder of the roadway that fell during the recent snowstorm.

“Closing the roadway will allow us to work much more efficiently and safely,” Roads Superintendent Kevin Lynch said. “We anticipate only needing to close it for one day.”

Worcester County residents are encouraged to review and provide feedback on the draft 2026 Comprehensive Plan and Land Use Map, a guiding document that will shape the County’s future growth and development.

On March 4, 2026, the Worcester County Planning Commission submitted the draft Comprehensive Plan to the State of Maryland, where it will undergo a 60-day review. The Comprehensive Plan serves as the County’s long-term roadmap, informing decisions related to land use, zoning, transportation, housing, environmental protection, and infrastructure.

Public Notice – Water Outage March 24 in the areas of Rabbit Run and Surfers Way

To replace a failing water service main, Public Works will shut off water to an estimated 37 homes in Ocean Pines in the surrounding areas for Rabbit Run Lane from House numbers 1 thru 34 and all of Surfers Way Tuesday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with an alternative date of Wednesday, March 25. Water service for will be affected for approximately 2-4 hours, while crews make the repair.

Get Ready: Rental season is coming.

Worcester County Government reminds property owners that the County operates a Rental Licensing Program to support safe housing and protect both renters and landlords. 

If you rent a home, apartment, or room — even seasonally — a rental license is required and must be renewed annually.  

Snow Hill, Maryland (February 24, 2026) – After exhaustive cleanup efforts following the winter snowstorm, the Pocomoke Homeowner Convenience Center (HOCC) is once again open and will accept yard waste year-round. The Berlin and Snow Hill HOCCS will accept yard waste on a temporary basis until the Central Landfill reopens.

The Central Landfill in Newark will remain closed today, while Choptank Electric crews are on-site clearing a downed tree and power lines on Central Site Lane. The Central Landfill will reopen Wednesday, February 25.
