Traffic Alert: Timmonstown Road Closure on August 19

A portion of Timmonstown Road in Berlin will be closed August 19 beginning at 7 a.m., while crews replace a failed crossroad pipe. The work should be completed that same day. Detour signs will be posted to help guide motorists around the closure.

Worcester County Tourism and Economic Development (WCTED) invites the public to join them Thursday, August 20, at 10 a.m. at Baywater Landing, located at 3908 Bayside Road in Snow Hill, to launch Maryland’s Coast Shellfish, a new regional brand celebrating locally grown oysters, clams, and bay scallops, along with the people who produce them.

Traffic Alert: Hickory Point Road Closure Wednesday, August 5

Hickory Point Road will be closed Wednesday, August 5, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. while County Roads Division crews replace a failed crossroad pipe in the roadway. In the event of a weather delay, the alternate date will be Thursday, August 6.

Snow Hill, MD – On July 21, 2026, the Worcester County Commissioners placed a temporary moratorium on the submittal and issuance of permits for data centers and cable landing stations. The moratorium is valid for 12 months or until rescinded by the commissioners.

Snow Hill, MD – Due to improving drought conditions and recent rainfall across Worcester County and the Lower Eastern Shore, the Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office in coordination with the Worcester County Department of Environmental Programs has lifted the countywide Open Burning Ban, effective immediately.

Worcester County, MD – Worcester County Public Works plans to begin replacing the Hotel Road Bridge in Bishopville in September 2026. To accommodate construction, Hotel Road will be closed at the bridge, with signed detour routes in place throughout the project. The roadway closure is expected to last approximately 120 days.

Snow Hill, MD – Worcester County Department of Emergency Services (DES) officials are updating the county’s Hazard Mitigation Plan and invite residents to help them identify the full range of natural and man-made hazards that could affect the Lower Eastern Shore and share ideas to reduce their impacts. DES will host four public meetings throughout Worcester County:

Use Online and In-Person Options

Worcester County Government is aware that some property owners have not yet received their 2026–2027 real estate tax bills by mail and is actively working to determine the cause.

Worcester County, MD — The George Island Landing Road boat ramp, on Rt. 366 in the Stockton area, will be closed until further notice beginning Monday, July 6, 2026, while crews replace the ramp, bulkhead, and stone revetment, and overlay the parking lot. 

The facility will be unavailable to the public through the duration of the project, and boaters are encouraged to use the Taylors Landing boat ramp to access the Chincoteague Bay during the closure.
